Meaning of key verses in Deuteronomy 31
Deuteronomy 31:6
Moses spoke these words to the people of Israel near the end of his life, as they prepared to cross the Jordan River without him. He was 120 years old, and Joshua would lead them into the promised land, where powerful nations lived. Moses told them to "be strong and of a good courage" and not to be afraid. The reason was not their own strength, but God's presence: "the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee." Then comes a lasting promise: "he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee." Hebrews 13:5 repeats this promise to Christians: God never leaves his people.
