What is Psalm 37 about?
Psalm 37 is wisdom from David in his old age, for anyone troubled by how well wicked people seem to do. It begins, "Fret not thyself because of evildoers." Their success is short-lived, David says, like grass that soon withers. Instead, he urges, "Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart" (verse 4) and "Commit thy way unto the LORD" (verse 5). Verse 11, "the meek shall inherit the earth," was quoted by Jesus in the Beatitudes. In Hebrew it is an acrostic, a teaching poem to memorize, calling God's people to patience and trust.
