What is Psalm 103 about?

Psalm 103 is David's song of praise for God's mercy. He begins by speaking to himself: "Bless the LORD, O my soul... and forget not all his benefits." He lists them: God forgives all our sins, heals our diseases, redeems our life and crowns us with lovingkindness. God is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and "As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us" (verse 12). Like a father pitying his children, he remembers that we are dust. The psalm ends by calling angels and all creation to bless the LORD with David.
