What is Psalm 25 about?

Psalm 25 is a prayer of David for guidance, forgiveness and protection. In Hebrew it is an acrostic, with each verse beginning with the next letter of the alphabet, which made it easier to memorize. David begins, "Unto thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul," and asks, "Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths" (verse 4). He asks God to remember his mercy and to forget the sins of his youth. He trusts that God guides the humble and that his paths are mercy and truth. It is a good psalm to pray when facing a decision or carrying regret.
